Paulie Gualtieri, AKA Paulie Walnuts, was a fan-favorite character in the original HBO series The Sopranos, played by Tony Sirico. This is owing in part to Tony Sirico’s eventually endearing portrayal of the murderous gangster, and in part to the character being extremely unpredictable. However, many fans’ affection originates from Paulie Walnuts’ finest lines.
The Sopranos features plenty of humorous lines and characters, but none comes close to Paulie in terms of wit. He is sometimes purposefully amusing. Sometimes the audience laughs at him rather than with him, and other times he is terribly terrifying. In any case, everything that comes out of Paulie’s lips will almost certainly be unforgettable.
